ABOUT US

St. Mary Theresa Hospital is a Catholic mission hospital established in 1963 by Rev. Fr. Harry Smits, a Dutch missionary. It was named after Blessed Mary Theresa Ledochowska, founderess of the Congregation of Missionary Sisters of St. Peter Claver. It is situated in the Gyinpapa community of Dodi-Papase in the Kadjebi District of the Oti Region of Ghana. Dodi-Papase lies along the middle section of the Ghana Togo border.

PHYSICAL STRUCTURE

The hospital has an Administration Block, Out Patient Block, Maternity Block, Children’s Block, Adult Inpatients Block, Operating Theatre, Diagnostic Services Block, and the Maternal and Child Health Block. Ancillary facilities include a cafeteria and a chapel. The Chapel serves as an auditorium for worship, meetings and conferences.

Our Contribution to Society

The hospital is a referral centre
for about fifteen (15) clinics and health centres in the district, and several
adjourning communities in Togo. Total area population is about 100,000. The average
daily Out Patient Department attendance is 80. It operates with 70 beds at 55%
bed occupancy rate.

Governance

The Bishop of the Catholic Diocese
of Jasikan is the legal holder of St. Mary Theresa Hospital. There is a 7 member
Diocesan Health Service Board which formulates policies for health facilities in the
diocese. A seven member management team headed by the Hospital Manager
oversees the day-to-day running of the hospital. The Hospital Management Team
reports to the Diocesan Health Service Board through a Diocesan Director of
Health Services. All communications with the hospital should be directed to the
hospital manager.
